Tennants Garden Rooms

The Garden Rooms at Tennants in Leyburn is one of Herriot Country’s finest visitor destinations, free to enter and open to the public seven days a week combining fine art and antique auctions with the arts, education, events and fine dining.

Opened in 2015, The Garden Rooms is a stunning and unique extension to Tennants Auctioneers, a fourth-generation family business. Over 150,000 visitors are warmly welcomed every year to browse upcoming auctions and two floors of museum quality galleries showcasing forthcoming sale items and visiting exhibitions.

An excellent food and drink offering is provided by a Bistro for formal dining and a popular Café, and a full programme of events offers something for everyone, from musical concerts, talks and lectures to family films and the hugely popular Winter Wonderland Christmas Fair.

Tours and group visits are welcomed, and Tennants offer a programme of ‘Behind the Scenes’ tours throughout the year which can be seen by visiting The Garden Rooms Website. The walking tours give a glimpse of the exciting world of fine art auctions and the fascinating history of this family business; visitors will experience the buzz of the saleroom, see parts of the auction house not open to the public and see a sale being prepared.

The stunning building also offers a variety of flexible event spaces for weddings, balls, and conferences accommodating up to 640 guests, and the dedicated events team can help you stage your perfect event.

The Garden Rooms delivers a truly memorable experience for all those that visit, whether for a wedding, conference, lunch in the Bistro or just to relax and browse the free to enter galleries and exhibitions.

Alf Wight (James Herriot) and Donald Sinclair (Siegfried Farnon) loved collectables and would have definitely been patrons at Tennants in their day.
