The Stripey Badger

Sited proudly at the top of the main square of the new Darrowby, Grassington, the Stripey Badger offers All Creatures Great and Small fans a treat. Linda who runs the Bookshop with son James had a lifetime ambition to own a bookshop and with the Stripey Badger Coffee Shop and Kitchen run by Jackie next door, where better than Grassington?

The Stripey Badger is perfectly placed in the heart of Herriot Country’s Yorkshire Dales National Park and offers the best of Yorkshire hospitality with home baking in the Coffee Shop that James Herriot, Siegfried and Tristan Farnon would surely love to have sampled.

In the Bookshop, with James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small books on top of the pile of course, there’s a choice of titles to make even a librarian drool. Books for every genre, books for children, guidebooks, Yorkshire maps, book-related gifts and cards. Plus, cream teas and meet the author events; the Stripey Badger Book Club with the latest titles discussed and ideas shared amongst enthusiastic readers. The Stripey Badger won Best Shop/Retailer in the Stray FM Skipton & Beyond Awards in 2018 and James was a recipient of the James Patterson Young Booksellers Award

When the Channel 5 TV crews arrive to film the latest series of All Creatures Great and Small, the Stripey Badger Bookshop transforms into grocers store GF Endleby and the coffee shop and kitchen become a private house where the actors and crew assemble between film takes.
