The Devonshire Grassington

The Devonshire Grassington doubles as the Drovers Arms in All Creatures Great and Small on Channel 5 TV and is in the heart of the village where the series is filmed as the fictional town of Darrowby created by James Herriot. Many rooms were used by the film crew as green rooms and to stay in, the exterior dressed to replicate the Drovers Arms and props used to set the period scenes for the All Creatures Great and Small series.   Quaint cosy corners and windows described as higgledy piggledy inside create a welcoming atmosphere at the Devonshire. Importantly, the Timothy Tailor-owned property has traditional ales and food that include local ingredients like award winning chickens from Soames Poultry in Driffield, freshly caught fish from Hodgsons and meat from Jacksons of Cracoe (just down the road). Take advantage of daily specials such as catch of the day fresh fish, limited availability game, and kitchen garden produce as the seasons allow. The same menu is served throughout, whether in the restaurant, bar or in the gardens. Menus can be tailored and the dining space accommodates large gatherings and family occasions.  Accommodation at the Devonshire is comfortable, stylish and from a choice of eight individually appointed bedrooms including Standard Double, Large Double, and Suites. All rooms include TV, FREE Wifi, tea and coffee. Four rooms are dog friendly, please ask when booking to check availability.  With its warm Yorkshire welcome, visitors to the Devonshire can be assured of a great atmosphere and can imagine standing where James Herriot, Siegfried and Tristan Farnon would have been standing with their pints at the bar and perhaps Mrs. Hall wondering where they are as she prepares dinner…?
