Little Seed Field Yorkshire Glamping

A Herriot Country family business that provides seven unique, octagonal cabins set in over seven acres of land. There are ponds, ancient woodland and miles of walking and cycling routes from the doorstep. The site offers something for everyone; romantic retreats, exploring for adventurers, memory making for families and private space for groups.

On this fourth generation working dairy farm, Joanne looks after glamping and weddings and her husband, Sean, is the dairy farmer.  They have two lively boys and two gorgeous Springadors – Roxy and Storm. The family have been farming here since 1938 and milk 200 dairy cows with normally around 70 young cows on the farm too. Plus, one bull, an Aberdeen Angus called Dave.

The site is wild, yet cosy and relaxed; peaceful yet there is good old fashioned outdoor fun; tree climbing, hiking, hunting for wildlife and marvelling at the stars and cosy cabins with a log stove. Located in North Yorkshire’s Herriot Country Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Nidderdale right in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales with rolling hills and dramatic skylines!  The glamping site is not a manicured holiday park, but offers natural beauty, sweeping horizons, uninterrupted views and accommodation that is not overlooked.  There is a free farm tour if you would like to know more about dairy farming and meet some of the cows – It’s a real life version of All Creatures Great and Small!

This Yorkshire Dales glamping site offers a glamping experience that creates long lasting happy memories for all.  Whether you are a family, a couple looking for a romantic secret escape, friends looking for an enjoyable time together or a corporate group looking for a day out in the country. The site has been designed to allow you to relax and unwind.  The insulated log cabins are complete with everything you need, including luxury beds, log stoves and glorious surroundings, providing the ultimate base for a break in nature. The site is a Dark Sky Friendly business with a series of events for all ages run throughout October to March, the observation season and the annual Dark Skies festival in February and October.

Glamping is designed to be more glamorous than camping.  Everything you need is provided for a holiday like camping, but without the stress or faff!  So, beds, bedding, crockery, cutlery and seating are all provided for you. The shared communal building has fridges, microwaves, toasters and additional kettles as well as a space to sit under cover in case of rain.

Alf Wight OBE (James Herriot) visited farms and villages just like this on his rounds and nearby are many of the locations where the BBC TV series was filmed with iconic locations including the famous ‘water splash’ scene that appeared in every opening sequence of the BBC series. Nearby Askrigg doubled as fictional ‘Darrowby’ and where Skeldale House, the BBC replica of the original surgery and home was filmed. Grassington the ‘new’ Darrowby in Channel 5 TV’s All Creatures Great and Small is within easy reach and some of the scenes for this series have been filmed at Little Seed Field. Remember too, to visit Thirsk and the World of James Herriot the original home and surgery where it all began and where Alf Wight wrote his tales of his life as a country vet in North Yorkshire now known world-wide as Herriot Country.
