Lightwater Valley is situated in Ripon, In the heart of Herriot Country. It is a huge amusement park which was founded back in 1969 by a man named Robert Staveley. The park is now owned by Brighton Pier Group which was purchased for a whopping £5 million in 2021. Since being owned by Brighton Pier Group they have transformed it to aim more at the younger generation, making it a family friendly Park or suitable for school trips.
With the Park being revamped they are no longer operating the larger attraction rides such as The Ultimate or the Wild River Rapids but have now built a brand-new Go Safari area, in which visitors can go and board the Savanna Express giving an experience through the African wilderness. Brighton Pier Group also added a new addition called the Treetop Trails where guests can take a stroll through the net walks between the trees of Herriot Country.
Throughout the amusement park there are food and drink stalls provided for a long family day out, or even a huge pizza restaurant which guests can use to sit and snack while breathing in the fantastic Herriot Country fresh air.
Lightwater Valley is only a 25-minute drive to the Historic Thirsk Town Centre where guests can visit the huge attraction The World of James Herriot Centre. There is also plenty of local shops/restaurants if visitors to Lightwater Valley are looking for a great way to finish their day at the amusement park.
