Alf Wight OBE (James Herriot) had a passion for North Yorkshire and visited so many farms and homesteads in the Yorkshire Dales, he might have been to Littondale Country and Leisure Park that is in the heart of the countryside he loved near Skipton.
The Playground Productions All Creatures Great and Small TV series has been filmed in and around Grassington and this beautiful countryside where this friendly and high quality park is located. Viewers on 5 TV in the UK and on PBS in the USA are enjoying this beauty and coming to visit the World of James Herriot and the area to experience it for themselves.
The Park has Glamping Pods for hire, touring and static caravan sites and also has hook up points for motorhomes. There is a children’s adventure play area with two grassy areas for ball games, plus, the site is dog-friendly with miles of walking routes and a dog-wash station.
Accessible for many of the local amenities including the local village of Arncliffe 1.5 miles down the valley which is also the original setting for another Yorkshire TV series, Emmerdale, which takes its name from the original name of the village when it was known as Amerdale. The fictional Woolpack Inn was based on the Falcon Inn at Arncliffe.
Littondale Country and Leisure Park is perfect for quiet enjoyment of the stunning Yorkshire Dales scenery and the many attractions in nearby Grassington and Skipton and many villages in the area. Malham Cove is nearby and the area is a designated Dark Skies location.
