Carlton Lodge is an impressive activity centre within the Herriot Country. With Carlton Lodge having over 30 year’s experience in providing safe and enjoyable activities for young people it is safe to say it’s a great day out with the family. It is situated only 10 minutes from the A1 and less than ½ mile from the Thirsk train station making it very easy to access from any area in the Herriot Country.
Within the activity centre lies 12 acres of land purely used for the youth to have the experience of a lifetime for a cheap budget. Carlton Lodge contains its own lake for water sports and a brand- new refurbished climbing wall, alongside the long list of activities they have to offer. For example: Archery, Caving experiences, axe throwing and many more.
These activities are run to be linked to the 2014 National Curriculum and meeting the requirements within it. They also provide 3 separate residential buildings so individuals can enjoy their own comfortable space.
Carlton Lodge is licensed and inspected by the Adventurous Activities Licensing Service (AALS) and was one of the first outdoor centres in the country to gain the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge (LOTC,) this in conjunction with approved supplier statues from NYCC’s Educational Visits Advisor gives you confidence that everything is in place to cover all your Health and Safety requirements.
The activity centre’s staff hold the relevant National Governing Body (NGB) qualification or complete the intensive in-house training for the relevant activities. They ensure that all the staff are required to take basic youth work training, to be confident in their ability to give the young people the maximum enjoyment of their visit.
