Brymor Ice Cream has been made at High Jervaulx Farm in the rolling hills of Wensleydale near Masham for over 30 years and what makes it so special is the love and care that is taken in creating ice cream from the milk of its Guernsey cow herd. Blessed with a social and friendly nature the Brymor ‘girls’ are at the heart of the farm and good animal welfare and respect for them is crucial to the business.
Guernsey cows are very inquisitive and known for their friendly and social nature and although they do not produce as much milk as the more common black and whites we all are familiar with, they do have much creamier milk that provides more quality than quantity and that’s why Brymor Ice cream is so good.
The Brymor Ice Cream Parlour and Café at the farm is a perfect place to enjoy some of the 25 flavours of ice cream (it may take you some time to decide) and is a popular stop where you can sit back and enjoy the Yorkshire Dales in this picturesque part of Herriot Country. The Café offers a light menu sourcing as many ingredients as locally as possible – cheese on the Ploughman’s lunch is from the famous Wensleydale Creamery the home of Wallace and Gromit no less!
Our four-legged friends are even catered for in the Parlour with a dedicated area with plentiful bowls of fresh water, an exercise area outside and even dog ices are available, it’s bound to guarantee some vigorous James Herriot-style tail-wagging!
There is also ample outdoor space including a garden play area where youngsters can let of steam and even when it is raining the undercover play barn keeps them occupied and dry. There’s a great choice of play equipment, including a bouncy castle, inflatable obstacle course, Giant Jenga and a sand pit, plus smaller games and fun stuff for our younger customers. Rabbits and guinea pigs also have their homes in the play barn so come and say hello to our furry friends as part of your visit.
In the Parlour there’s also the Brymor Shop that stocks a range of carefully selected goodies all crafted using local products including famous Wensleydale Creamery, Brymor’s own range of foodie treats, jams, chutneys, cakes and biscuits and Yorkshire tea from Taylors of Harrogate and of course Brymor’s own real ice cream in take home packs to stock up your own freezer.
There’s a big welcome for Groups at Brymor and whilst our super scoopers may be kept very busy it’s an amazing experience for people travelling together when they share the experience of our Guernsey cows, taste the multitude of flavours and take the chance to shop for those local specials in the shop. There a very large flat easy access area for drop-offs and ease of movement for coaches and the well-marked car park has a dedicated coach parking area, close to the parlour and cafe and plenty of turning space. Brymor offers complimentary driver refreshments and drinks during your visit as our way of saying thank you.
