Garden Cottage in Richmond is one of Herriot Country’s fine independent properties that is something a little out of the ordinary in the historic market town of Richmond. There is much to recommend this beautifully decorated renovated cottage with its south facing aspect on the edge of the old part of town looking toward lovely Swaledale countryside.
Built in the former kitchen garden of the Elizabethan Yorke House this pretty Victorian gardener’s cottage has spectacular views of Richmond Castle and Billy Banks Woods from its secure private garden. Two guest cars can be parked in the private drive.
A stone flagged passage has bike, boot and pushchair lockable storage and leads from the front door to the well-fitted kitchen and the living room which has French windows opening to the garden. There’s a tuned piano, plenty of books and games and comfortable furnishings. There are two double bedrooms upstairs, one with en-suite bathroom and one twin room. A bath and separate shower can be found in the family bathroom. Most windows face south, and the cottage is light an airy. Families are welcomed and there’s room at no additional charge for one or two well-mannered dogs.
Garden Cottage owners, Dennis and Marcia have been recognised by VisitEngland for offering the warmest of welcomes with a prestigious ROSE award. Only 100 are presented in England each year.
