The Red Lion Inn is located in Langthwaite, Richmond, in the heart of Herriot Country. This local pub is a brilliant property to go and have a refreshing drink or a tasty meal out individually or with a family. It is situated in a great spot as it is only a couple of miles drive away from The Swaledale Festival which is run every year. For two weeks this festival hosts a range of activities such as classical concerts, talks, guided walks and much more making the pub another great reason to visit with lots to do afterwards.
This pub loves to give that home-to-home feeling by serving local drinks such as Black Sheep bitter, and Black Sheep pale ale, with a mix of a third cask that changes every month. As well as serving the other favourites of lager, cider, wines and soft drinks on top of that. Visitors to this area won’t be discouraged as there is always a huge selection to choose from including hot drinks too!
With this pub being located within the Yorkshire Dales National Park it is renowned for being featured in a number of films and TV series, with the most famous being ‘All Creatures Great and Small.’ The filming took place from 1977 to 1991 and the inside as well as the outside of the Red Lion was used in several episodes, so guests can experience the film set feeling too.
