Parcevall Hall Gardens is situated in Wharfedale, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, in the heart of Herriot Country. Parcevall Hall Gardens are a renowned plantsman’s garden which are a must visit and is a beauty to look at with the eye. It is made up of 24 acres of formal and woodland gardens in which rise up the hillside for over 200 feet, making this a fantastic area for sightseeing the beautiful views of Herriot Country.
These gardens were laid out by the late Sir William Milner from 1927 onwards and are planted with specimens from all around the world, many were collected from Western China and the Himalayas. Within these grounds guests visiting the area will find may surfaces of the garden, including woodland walks, formal, south facing terraces, a bedrock limestone rock garden and a beautiful rose garden where visitors are able to sit and enjoy the relaxing surroundings, which is all against the fabulous backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales.
Once Sir William finished completing the gardens, the hall became his home for thirty years in which he continued to develop the gardens until he died. The Hall itself isn’t open to the garden visitors but instead used by the diocese of West Yorkshire and The Dales as a retreat house and conference centre. But guests can still enjoy the architectural features from a close range.
Parcevall Hall Gardens is only a 15-minute drive from the historic market town of Grassington where the original series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ Was filmed. Alongside the wonderful local shops/restaurants and other attractions to visit on a fulfilled day out.
