Beacon Alpacas

Beacon Alpacas offers a close-up experience with these fascinating animals which you can walk and enjoy the stunning scenery of Herriot Country’s Hambleton Hills. Walks are held five afternoons per week in Spring and Summer plus Fridays and Mondays in Winter starting at 1.15 pm. The friendly halter trained soft and curious alpacas will walk with you through these lovely locations , it’s a lovely experience. Allow around two hours for your walk as you’ll meet others on your walk and you’ll have time for taking pictures. You’ll see the White Horse of Kilburn and other attractive views as you walk. You’ll learn about the alpacas as you walk, how they are farmed, how they are fed, about their fleece and where they are from.

You are walking in the countryside with uneven terrain and sometimes wet grass and sometimes muddy in wet weather so please wear suitable waterproof clothing and footwear with closed toes.  Walks are suitable for children aged seven to 17 but they must be accompanied by an adult. The walks are not recommended for people with walking disabilities. Walks are held in light rain but not  in heavier weather and sometimes the start is delayed to allow this to pass. If a walk is postponed due to bad weather, an alternative date will be offered. Farm visits are also available for guests unable to take the walks.

Walks are with a minimum of two alpacas and guests can walk with one each or two people per alpaca and up to a maximum of twelve alpacas. Two people per alpaca works well and you may be walking with other guests as a group. Special occasions can be a great way to enjoy alpaca walks such as hen parties, birthdays, anniversaries. Alpaca gifts or flowers, cakes or champagne can be included.
