Mentioned in the Domesday Book, this elegant Georgian market town has a rural focus town and where its historic 12^th Century church has been named one Britain’s best. Its many unique shops, cafes, gift shops, pubs and restaurants provide a warm welcome to visitors offering jewellery and antiques to custom-made furniture, women’s fashion, china and gifts.

Bedale is on the route of the Wensleydale Railway where the station includes a traditional tearoom and a centre for craft workshops and an art gallery.

Foodies, in particular, are well catered for. Wensleydale cheese is, of course, a local speciality, as is real dairy ice cream from dales herds and Yorkshire beers. The town’s butcher is locally renowned and there is a delicatessen, bakery and greengrocer and a chocolate shop for those with a sweet tooth.
